Risks Of Ineligible Persons Undergoing Home Recovery For COVID-19 Against Advice
Updated on 29th October 2021
-
COVID-19 positive individuals who have been assessed to be unsuitable for Home Recovery have been counselled on the risks associated with undergoing Home Recovery against advice, instead of going to a Community Isolation Facility, COVID-19 Treatment Facility or healthcare institution.
-
These include medical/clinical risks such as delayed and/or incomplete investigations and medical treatment of COVID-19 disease, its severity and its complications (e.g. lung infection or sepsis resulting in multi-organ failure) in the individual.
-
As a result, this may promote the accelerated progression of the COVID-19 disease or, if any, the individual’s pre-existing co-morbidities/medical conditions during Home Recovery, and as a consequence, result in increased morbidity and even death.
-
If the individual is pregnant, there may also be risk to her foetus (including to the life of the foetus) if there is delayed and/or incomplete diagnosis, investigations and/or medical treatment of the COVID-19 disease.
