If the Child is on Approved Absence (AA)
Immediate action

Isolate at home for 5 days or until the end of the child or household member’s MC’s date of expiry.
- Ensure the child or household member takes the ART at the specified intervals for the duration of the AA or MC.
- Inform the school if your child or household member’s ART result is positive.

- If your child or household member has been issued a Health Risk Warning (HRW)*
- Stay at home and self-isolate until the child or household member receives a negative PCR result
* This does not include students with household members who are healthcare workers and other sectors who are required to undergo rostered routine testing
What to expect
For Candidates on AA due to being placed on MOH’s mandatory testing or High-Risk Warning
Will be allowed to sit for the National Exam if:

They take an entry COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test and test negative

Must conduct a self-swab with ART test kits at home at regular intervals in compliance with MOH’s testing regime.

Inform their schools of the outcome before their examination, until their AA is rescinded.
The child will be allowed to sit for the National Exam if the ART result is negative and testing is done at the specified intervals.

Medical Leave due to ARI symptoms
Will be allowed to sit for the National Exam if:
- They have recovered and tested PCR negative
- Candidates who are on MC due to fever will be allowed to sit for the examinations if they no longer have a fever and tested ART negative.
Currently, children aged 13 years and above who show ARI symptoms should get swabbed for a PCR test. Children aged 12 years and below are also encouraged to get swabbed.
- Parents of these children are encouraged to locate the nearest SASH clinic and call to confirm that the clinic can offer pediatric swab tests. Not all SASH clinics would have the capability to perform PCR tests on children below the age of 13.
